We enjoyed distributing bible tracts, had some fruitful conversations with some members of other denominations who we had invited to attend our bible study where I preached about "The Bible and Salvation". The other brethren with me took turns in leading songs and in leading prayers.

June 25, 2010: A Preacher's Fellowship was held at Metro Tuguegarao that was attended by more than 70 preachers from different places including the provinces of Cagayan, Isabela, Kalinga. The purpose of the fellowship is not only to promote unity among preachers but to further increase our knowledge regarding the doctrine of Christ and most especially to help each other to strengthen more our faith. Brother Dennis Yuson was the first speaker who shared us a very nice lesson on "The Right Attitude to Become an Effective Preacher". I thank God for the opportunity to speak also before our fellow preachers, I tried to deliver the lesson about "Where Will I (as a gospel preacher) Be Years From Now"; I tried to persuade our brethren to remain strong in our faith and to strive to find ourselves continually serving God years from now despite of the many tribulations, hardships, and persecutions we might face. Brother Rody Gumpad then discussed to us "The Fallacy of Premillinialism". After a short break we resumed with brother Edgar Licodini teaching us "Matthew 24". Last to teach us was brother Rody Gumpad where he discussed "The 70 A.D. Doctrine". We thank God for this wonderful opportunity. We felt recharged and much more encouraged by the words of God that we have heard. To our brethren who helped and prayed for the success of this fellowship, thank you very much and God bless you more.

The local congregation is located at Pag-asa, Ilagan, Isabela and their preacher is brother Efren Respicio. I thank God for guiding me in preaching the lesson on "Salvation". Both brethren prepared and preached wonderful lessons that gave us encouragements and gave those who are lost enlightenment and understanding of the gospel of Christ. Brother Sherwin Miranda (preacher at Quirino Church of Christ) and our dear brethr en at Quirino, Luna, Apayao waited for us patiently and with excitement and when we arrived they met us with much love and joy. This is the last stop of our preaching but like the others it is very encouraging to be with our brethren here. I have visited them for four times already and every visit I see much improvement, this visit I noticed that they have already put walls on around their church building. Brother Craig Thomas preached to us "The Church Jesus Built (Matthew 16:18)" and brother Rody Gumpad "The Second Coming of Christ". Six (6) precious souls confessed Christ.

This morning I found another encouragement form our "Aeta" brethren at Pukel Churc h of Christ. Our Aeta brethren are living in the mountains and because of their desire to listen to the gospel they walked down from the mountains more than 4 kilometers in more than 1 hour, some of them even walked without any foot coverings, very encouraging indeed. Many people possess beautiful shoes, they even have air conditioned vehicles yet sadly they are nowhere to be found in gospel meetings like this; I pray that we be encouraged and enlightened by our brethren at Pukel and that their faith and desire to continually study the words of God be an inspiration for us. Brother Craig Thomas preached to us "Just Christians" and brother jun Gumpad translated it in Ilokano. Brother Rody Gumpad also taught us "The Destiny of Man".

After the preaching at San Mariano Church of Christ we traveled for another one and a half hour to be with our brethren at Dubeng Church of Christ. The preacher is brother Robinson Pulveras. We arrived a little early so we took an hour rest and waited for the scheduled preaching. at around 7:30 in the evening we started the preaching. Brother Craig Thomas preached first with a very encouraging lesson about "Chariots of Fire (2 Kings 6:8-17)", the lesson explained to us that even if we are often times surrounded by many enemies (problems in life) we still have a God who is greater than the enemies (problems in life) and surely God will always deliver us (help us solve our problems) if we continue to trust, pray, have faith in Him, and obey Him. I say I was deeply encouraged because before we started the meeting I received a call from my wife and found out that she and our three children are suffering from coughs and colds, I am about to start worrying about their condition for I am more than 100 kilometers away from them and they do not have any companions to look after them; then comes this wonderful lesson, a lesson designed by God to stop me from worrying and teach me to be not afraid and to trust in Him. After brother Craig I was asked by the brethren to translate the lesson and I tried my very best to translate it for our brethren to experience the encouragement and blessings I received from the lesson. Brother Rody gumpad also taught us a lesson on "If We Are: In Christ/Outside Christ" where we learned the advantages of being in Christ and disadvantages if we are outside Christ.

Preaching at San Mariano Church of Christ

After preaching for our brethren at Toran Church of Christ w e immediately traveled towards San Mariano, Lal-lo to be with our brethren there. The preacher here is brother Daniel Pasaraba. I was deeply touched by a young brother while we are waiting for the meeting to start because a young brother with a kidney problem and undergoing dialysis once a week asked his friends to carry him (his feet are bulging) just to attend and listen to the preaching; what an encouraging faith this young brother of us has. I would like to remember this experience and would humbly and continually thank this dear brother for encouraging me much, I pray that this will encourage you also and remember how wonderful is it to serve our only God. Brother Craig Thomas taught a nice lesson on "Just Christians"; that our claim is to be simply the Christians that the Lord added to His church and that for us to aim to stay in this church until the judgment day (Acts 2:47; Eph. 5:23). Brother jun Gumpad translated the lesson in Ilokano. Brother Rody Gumpad also taught us a nice lesson on "Christian's Duty/Obligation"; he explained that each Christian has his/her own duty/obligation in the church, the community, the enterprises, the home, and in the government. Our God surely smiled for the conversion and obedience of a dear mother.

Preaching at Toran Church of Christ

I left home around 6:45 in the morning to meet our brethren for our preaching trip at To ran, Appari. It was indeed a very good morning and everyone was very excited to go and preach for the glory of God. We are able to leave Tuguegarao 7:30 in the morning and arrived at Toran Church of Christ 9:30 in the morning. The rain poured a bit hard that day but still we found a very good number of brethren waiting for us at the church building. The preacher at Toran Church of Christ is brother Jun Miranda. Brother Craig Thomas preached a very good lesson about "The Church Jesus Built (Mt. 16:18)" --- he explained that the church was built by Christ, that the church was built on a rock, that Christ built only one church, that the church was not built while Jesus is still alive, and that the church will never fail. After brother Craig the brethren requested me to translate the lesson in our local dialect. Brother Rody Gumpad also taught us about "What God Hath Joined Together (Mt. 19:6)". He explained that God hath joined husband and wife, faith and works, church and Christ, baptism and salvation; that in order to follow God's plan each pair must work together and that the other cannot stand alone. I thank God very much for these wonderful lessons that encouraged me more and I believe that it also encouraged our brethren at Toran. We wished we could stay long and have more time with our brethren but time will not let us for we have to be at San Mariano Church before 1:30 noon to preach with our brethren there also.

Today, we thank God for another fruitful day in the Vineyard. We attended the gospel meeting of our brethren at Santa Felicitas, Santo Nino, Cagayan. Brothe r Manny Pader is the preacher of the local congregation. The first speaker was brother Florendo Respicio who preached about "Giving in the Bible". Brother Gerald Ganela preached second with the lesson on "The Life of A Christian". Brother Ryan Thomas spoke third with the lesson on "Thyself" which was translated in Ilokano later on by brother Jun Gumpad. I thank God again for the opportunity He gave me so I can preach to our brethren at Santa Felicitas also the lesson on "The Message of the Cross (1 Corinthians 1:18)". The result of the gospel meeting is again very encouraging for two (2) precious souls confessed Christ and were baptized into Christ.

April 6, we were at San Luis, Tuao, Cagayan and attended the gospel meeting of our brethren. Brother David Malupen g is the preacher in this local congregation. The first speaker was brother Ryan Thomas and preached about "Jesus' Attitude Toward Denomination"; after that I was given the chance to translate the lesson in our Ilokano dialect. The last speaker was brother Rody Gumpad and taught us "The New Testament Church" and "You Cannot Hide Sin".

The preachers here are brother Ben Vistro and Kernel Vistro. As we arrived at the place, after a long trip along rough roads, we are welcomed by warm smiles from our brethren and friends. First speaker was brother Dennis Yuson with a lesson about "The Children of God". Second speaker was brother Robert Pader who taught us "What The Bible Teaches". Brother Ryan Thomas spoke third with a lesson about "Nothing" that I translated in our Ilokano dialect for the benefit of the brethren and friends who cannot understand english. Brother Rody Gumpad preached last about "Dangers the Church Faces". As we sang the invitation song, nine (9) precious souls stepped forward, confessed Christ, and expressed their desire to be baptized for the remission of their sins. We left Tuguegarao very at around 5:30 in the morning on the 25th of March to attend th e gospel meeting of our brethren at Dumabbato Sur, Maddela, Quirino. The preacher at the local co ngregation is brother Reneboy Maranion. They do not have their own church building yet so what they did was they put a tent on a vacant lot for us to hold the meeting. The first speaker was brother Sammy Gamit who preached to us "The Importance of the Bible". Second speaker was brother Jay Gumpad who discussed "The Patriarchal Period". Third speaker was brother Ryan Thomas about "The Mosaical Period". Fourth speaker was your humble servant with the topic about "The Christian Period". Finally the last speaker was brother Rody Gumpad who preached about "The Second Coming of Christ". Brother Mark Daquioag led the invitation song and one (1) soul stepped forward and confessed Christ; after the meeting another young man approached their preacher and expressed his desire to be baptized for the remission of his sins, so we have two (2) baptisms at Maddela, Quirino. After the meeting at Maddela we went straight to Cabarroguis, Quirino to visit our brother Otey Pastor inside the jail and to preach with the inmates also (We would love to provide pictures also but unfortunately camera and cellphones are not allowed inside the jail). Brother Rody Gumpad preached about "Rightly Dividing the Word of Truth". The result of the preaching inside the jail is indeed very encouraging for five (5) souls confessed Christ and expressed their desire to be baptized.

The road was not very good as it is very rough. We give credit to the people at the place for they did everything they can so that we can go to their place; before, going to the place was very hard for we have to walk 2 hours to reach our friends but they did some remedy and made the road passable for vehicles. The trip was very rough and the place was indeed very far but as soon as we saw the beautiful and very warm smiles from our friends we told ourselves that our trip is a blessing from God. Their is no church yet in this area that is why we were very excited to preach for our friends. We had the preaching at the home of brother John Lappao (he and his wife are the only Christians in the community), they have to walk two hours every Lord's Day to attend worship at Gobgob Church of Christ where brother Ben Vistro preaches that is why they decided to invite us and preach the gospel to their neighbors with the hope that their hearts will be moved and obey the gospel eventually for the salvation of their souls. Brother Ryan Thomas preached a nice lesson about "Some Things Regarding the Holy Spirit" that brother Jun Gumpad translated in Ilokano afterwards. Brother Dennis Yuson also received questions which we tried to answer. After a short lunch brother Rody Gumpad also taught us "Rightly Dividing the Word of Truth (2 Tim. 2:15)" and "Entering the Church". The encouraging fuit of the gospel preaching was four (4) precious souls who stepped forward and confessed Christ.

After the preaching at Ayoyo Church of Christ we immediately went to Poblacion, Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte where our brethren patiently waits for us for their scheduled gospel meeting also. Brother Rody Gumpad taught us a very nice lesson about "Stand For"; that we must learn to stand for the Right God, stand for the Right Doctrine, stand for the Right Church, and stand for the Right Hope. After the preaching we had our group pictures, said our goodbyes for a while and we immediately thread the highway home for we need to pass the critical area (where sightings of rebels and thieves have been observed) before dark. With God's guidance we safely arrived home and were reunited with our families.

March 12 we started our travel early for we have to travel for 1 hour to 1.5 hours to reach our brethren at Ayoyo Church of Christ at Ayoyo, Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte where brother Daniel Lauro preaches. When we arrived w e heard beautiful voices singing songs of praise already and we saw warm smiles patiently and excitedly waiting for us. Brother Ryan Thomas preached first with and encouraging lesson about "Spiritual Success (Joshua 1:6-9)". For the benefit of our brethren I tried my very best to translate the lesson into Ilokano. Brother Rody Gumpad then preached about "Membership of the Glorious Church (Ephesians 5:27; Acts 2:47)". The result was very encouraging for during the invitation four (4) precious souls came forward and confessed Christ.

After the preaching at Pacifico Church of Christ we went straight at the church building of our bre thren at Parado, Dingras, Ilocos Norte where brother Jun Macusi preaches to have a bible st udy with our brethren and friends there. We excitedly talked with our brethren and remembered the last time we have seen each other and exchanged good news about the work of our Lord in our area and in their area. Our fellow preachers took turns in leading songs for our brethren and we all sang songs in our hearts for our God. Brother Rody Gumpad taught us in the bible study about "Things That Hinder Salvation (2 Corinthians 13:5)." No baptism for that night but what is important is we have encouraged our brethren at Parado and taught to them the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We (brethren Rody Gumpad, Tessie Gumpad, Ryan Thomas, Jay Gumpad, Jun Gumpad, Mark Daquioag, Dennis Yuson, Sherwin Miranda, Reneboy Maranion, Celso Jacobo and his wife, Joeben Jacobo, Daniel Pasaraba and his wife, and yours truly) left Tuguegarao City last March 10, 2010 at around 1:30 afternoon to attend the gospel meeting of our brethren at Pacifico Church of Christ at Marcos, Ilocos Norte where brother Jun and Warner Macusi preaches. We arrived at the home of brother Jun Macusi at Dingras, Ilocos Norte at about 8:30 in the evening and the whole family is waiting for us and they received us very warmly in their home. The whole family was also very kind to offer their home for us to stay at while we were at the region.

The following day, March 11, we woke up very early, shared more good news with our hosts and prepared for the gospel meeting at Pacifico Church of Christ. We arrived at the place at exactly 9 in the morning and we found the brethren eagerly and very excited in waiting for us. We had short conversation with them and then we pushed through with the scheduled gospel meeting. Our fellow gospel preachers took turns in leading songs for the brethren. The first speaker in the morning was brother Ryan Thomas with his lesson about "Five Greatest Facts of Life". After that I was requested by the brethren to translate the lesson in Ilokano. The second speaker was brother Rody Gumpad and he taught a very nice lesson on "The Members of the Original Church of Christ".

After lunch we continued with the gospel meeting at Pacifico Church o f Christ and brother Ryan Thomas preached first again with a very informative lesson about "Teach My People The Difference (Ezekiel 44:23)" and after that I tried my very best agai n to translate the lesson in our Ilokano dialect. Brother Rody preached next with a lesson about "The Destiny of Man". After the lesson, an invitation song was extended and seven (7) precious souls stepped forward, confessed Christ, and expressed their desire to be baptized for the remission of their sins.

We thank the Lord for giving us good health this day for us to attend at the gospel meeting of our brethren at Catarauan, Piat, Cagayan. The hardworking preacher here is brother Jun Antonio. Catarauan is about an hour drive from Tuguegarao, the road is not that nice for it is a rough terrain but we are all very happy to meet our brethren. The first speaker was brother Ryan Thomas and he preached a nice lesson about "The Seed is the Word of God". After that I was requested by the brethren to translate the lesson into Ilocano. Brother Rody Gumpad then preached about "The Second Coming of Christ". Though there were no baptism we still believe that we had a very fruitful day for the Word of God was again proclaimed and planted at the hearts of the listeners. We give all praise and glory to God.

Though the heat was extremely hot we still thank God for the wonderful opportun ity He opened for us to preach the gospel of Christ. We went to attend the gospel meeting of our brethren at San Vicente Church of Christ at San Vicente, Tuao where brother Edwin Soriano, brother Alex, and brother Louie Saddul preaches. Brother Ryan Thomas preached a very nice lesson about "Walking With God (Rom. 6:4)" and after that I was requested by the brethren to translate it in Ilocano. After I translated the lesson, brother Rody Gumpad also preached about "The Original Church of Christ and the Modern Churches" and "Don't Stay Away From Church". We were again deeply encouraged for even if it is very hot inside the church building we still saw the sincerity of the brethren and their thirst for the word of God; we felt very happy and we believed that God also smiled this day for when we extended the invitation song two (2) souls went forward and confessed Christ.

The Vanity of Riches (Psalms 49)

This psalm is a sermon, and so is the next. In most of the psalms we have the penman praying or praising; in these we have him preaching; and it is our duty, in singing psalms, to teach and admonish ourselves and one another (Colossians 3:16). The scope and design of this discourse is to convince the men of this world of their sin and folly in setting their hearts upon the things of this world, and so to persuade them to seek the things of a better world; as also to comfort the people of God, in reference to their own troubles and the grief that arises from the prosperity of the wicked.

December 1, 2009: Our group left home very excited to attend the gospel meeting of our brethren at Illuru, Rizal, Cagayan ; the place is about two to three hours drive from our place. Brethren Jerry Soliva, Mario Garma, and Cornelio Abig help each other in preaching for our brethren at Illuru Church of Christ. The trip was a little dangerous for it was raining and the road is very muddy, this is a situation not new to us for we have visited the place about four times already; we expected the road situation same as we expected the possibilities of having close encounter with rebel soldiers. We thank God that He guided us and help us arrive at the place safe. When we arrived at the venue it was still raining and the place was muddy but we were greatly encouraged for we saw the brethren patiently and happily waiting for us. We started the meeting immediately with brother Robert Pader as the first speaker and preached a lesson about "Teamwork in the Church". Brother Florendo Respicio preached the second with the topic "The giving That The Bible Teaches". Brother Rody Gumpad also preached about "God Has Spoken" and "Don't Stay Away From Church". We had a short break, had our lunch and continued with the meeting. I thank God also for the opportunity He gave me to be able to preach to our brethren; I prepared a lesson about "Man And His Destiny". After the gospel meeting we had a short conversation with our brethren and we hurried home to catch our midweek bible study at Metro Tuguegarao Church of Christ. We arrived safe home and in the midweek bible study I was able to teach "Psalms 42".

November 26, 2009: Gattu Church of Christ is loc ated at Gattu, Pamplona, Cagayan and about three hours drive from Tuguegarao City. Our group l eft at around 7:00 in the morning and arrived at the venue 10:00 in the morning. We are very happy to meet the brethren for, if my memory serves me right, it has been already three years since our last visit here. The place is known to be a place where rebel soldiers and head hunters are but we thank God that He gave us the needed courage and persuaded us to go through to preach the gospel of Christ. Brother Domingo Dangiwan Jr. is the preacher at this place. Brother Ryan Thomas spoke first with the lesson he took from "Luke 23:35: And They Stood Beholding". Brother Rody Gumpad spoke also about "The Destiny of Man". The result of the gospel meeting was very encouraging for eight (8) souls stepped forward during the invitation song, they confessed Christ and expressed their desire to be baptized into Christ. The two were Edith Ramirez and Fely Molina, both of them were attending every Lord's Day for 4 months already and we were really happy when they went forward and expressed their desire to be baptized into Christ. After the worship we immediately brought them to the church building at Tuguegarao Church where we baptized them.
